RTC urged to switch to pneumatic doors

June 24, 2014 01:02 am | Updated 01:02 am IST

The lack of doors in RTC buses leads to road accidents while getting down when the bus is still moving. Many youngsters are prone to such accidents. Pneumatic doors for buses can help avoid accidents and also ensure a safe journey for citizens.

Accounts for minors

I recently went to the Allahabad Bank, Himayat Nagar branch, to open an account in my grandson’s name, who is a minor. The manager told me that accounts for minors can be opened by them only when parents are guardians. I was shocked to hear this from a manager, as there is no such stipulation in the banking rules. I request the zonal authorities of the bank to clarify whether such an account can be opened by a grandfather for his grandson or not.

Water shortage problem

I would like to bring to the notice of local administrators that inhabitants of east Anandbagh and Safilguda constantly face the problem of water shortage. Bore wells are completely dry in those areas and residents depend solely on Municipal water which comes just once in five days. Recently, there was a pipeline leakage problem and the authorities took almost eight days to rectify the issue. Added to that, water tankers turn up a week after booking.

Also, the RUB project which is supposed to ease traffic problems has been not taken up. The board saying ‘work in progress’ has been there since the last 16 months, without any work actually having been taken up. Hope the present government initiates the project soon.

Garbage causing inconvenience

The 2 km stretch from KPHB main road, NH9 to Hi-tech City railway station is deplorable to say the least, and is poorly maintained. Thousands of tonnes of construction debris is dumped on this road as well. Also, garbage and trash containing hazardous materials are burnt in the open on the stretch daily, releasing pollutants. The prevailing conditions may also prove to be life-threatening to pedestrians.

Erratic power supply

Since the last week, residents in several localities of Srinagar colony are facing unscheduled power cuts. These frequent power interruptions are causing inconvenience to families here especially children who are preparing for entrance examinations.

The power cuts are also not allowing us to use water pump sets to draw groundwater for domestic use. Moreover, street lights on the colony main road are switched off only at 7 a.m. I request the APCPDCL authorities to look into the matter.

Speed breakers needed

Speed breakers and Speed Limiting Boards with additional traffic signals are required at Ferozguda near Balanagar. The area between Vimal Theatre and Ferozguda bus stop has government organisations such as BHEL, HAL and Indian Air Force campus.

As the entrances of these buildings are directly connected to Balanagar main road, I request the authorities concerned to provide speed breakers with signboards near these organisations especially near Ferozguda MMTS Railway Bridge to control over speeding of vehicles.
