The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to concentrate on widening the roads wherever the metro rail construction is currently on in the core of the city.
Commissioner Somesh Kumar held a meeting with the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) officials led by the managing director N.V.S. Reddy to review the progress of land acquisition across the three metro corridors.
The officials were informed that of the 318 properties which are yet to be acquired on the three corridors where the construction is currently on 44 properties were taken over. Mr. Somesh Kumar wanted the planning, engineering and land acquisition officials to expedite the process of taking over the remaining properties and complete the paper work in the next two days.

He was especially keen that wherever compensation was paid to the properties to be acquired, the demolitions should be taken up without further delay. While consultations can be taken up with property owners to take over buildings on mutual consent, requisite compensation can be deposited in the courts wherever there is litigation, a press release said.

The GHMC Commissioner also wanted the officials to bring it to his notice about any recalcitrant issues on the issue. The meeting comes in the backdrop of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao promising to speed up the process of providing the right of way for smooth construction.
A meeting has also been scheduled to be held with all the local public representatives and the metro rail officials of both HMR and L&TMRH to sort out the pinpricks including the alignment changes being sought by the Government.
