Raja Rithvik, a class VII student of Orchids International School, Jubilee Hills, bagged a silver medal in the Asian Schools Chess Championship under-11 Blitz category in Singapore.

Trained by International Master Lanka Ravi, Rithvik finished with 5.5 points from seven rounds to settle for the runners-up slot. Rithvik lost to Tengis Ochir of Mongolia despite dominating the final round game as it also saw him slip into time pressure. The young Hyderabadi will now train for the Asian Chess Classical Format. A.P. and Telangana State Chess Assoc-iation president A. Narasimha Reddy congratulated Rithvik on his latest achievement. This is his second maj-or silver after the 2012 Commonwealth Chess championship.
