HYDERABAD: A 28-year-old man, who duped many women with false assurances of marriage claiming that he was the son of a rich businessman, was arrested on Tuesday.
Accused Motaparthy Vamshi Krishna, an intermediate dropout from West Godavari district, is married and has a son. He was arrested three years ago for allegedly extorting money from brothel operators in S.R. Nagar claiming to be a media person.
Krishna lived with his parents at Borabanda after his wife deserted him, leaving their son with him. “He registered with matrimonial websites, claiming he was the son of an NRI businessman and got in touch with women from well-to-do families,” Hyderabad CCS Cyber Crime Inspector Majid Ali Khan said. Krishna would hire costly vehicles and visit the houses of these women. He would promise to marry them as soon as his father, a businessman in London, returned home.

When the women insisted on marriage or showed signs of suspicion, he would switch off his mobile phone and never meet them again. He collected money from eight women, the latest being an engineering graduate. He took Rs. 6.10 lakh from her. He had shown her the house of TD leader Vallabhaneni Vamshi in Jubilee Hills to her and claimed it as his own.
