After several rounds of discussions and deliberations, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has finally got the city roads sub-division of the Roads & Buildings (R&B) shifted to itself.
For long, the civic body has been after the road stretches of the R&B that criss-cross the city to ensure uniform maintenance. During the monsoon in particular, the GHMC was receiving lot of criticism for the bad road conditions in the city and was forced to explain that most of these affected road stretches were in fact managed by the R& B and not by the GHMC. The GHMC Commissioner, Somesh Kumar in a press release on Saturday said the City Roads Sub-division IV Hyderabad of R&B was shifted to the civic body on working arrangement basis with immediate effect. Accordingly, some of the staff of the R&B city cadre was placed at the disposal of the GHMC Commissioner till further orders.
