Rallapalli dead

Noted comedian of Telugu films Rallapalli Venkata Narasimha Rao (73) died here on Thursday of lung related ailment. His family members shifted him to a hospital when he fell ill in the morning but he died by evening. He is survived by a daughter who is settled in US.

Venkata Narasimha Rao started his career as a stage artist in 1960 and made his debut in films with “Stree” movie in 1974. He starred in several films after that, mainly Subhalekha, Khaidi, Alaya Sikharam, Mantrigari Viyyankudu, Abhilasha, Srivariki Premalekha, Sitara and Alapana. He, however, won appreciation in Chillara Devullu and Chali Cheemalu.

His role as a transgender person in “Bombay”, directed by Maniratnam, won the hearts of movie buffs. He won three Nandi awards.
