Two lakh fish seedlings released into Upper Manair Dam

Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar said the Rajanna-Sircilla district was all set to become a fish hub of Telangana with the availability of fish in various water bodies in the district.

The Collector participated in the release of about two lakh fish seedlings into Upper Manair Dam at Narmala village on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the government was releasing fish seedlings in major reservoirs of Mid Manair Dam, Upper Manair Dam, Malkapet reservoir and Anathagiri reservoir along with over 300 minor irrigation tanks to transform the district into a fish hub and ensure that the fishermen get good income.

He said Telangana was the only State in the country to provide fish seedlings free of cost to fishermen apart from helping them in selling the fish. District Fisheries Officer Khader Ahmad said the government has decided to release 1.50 crore fish seedlings into various water bodies in the coming days. They would release 28.50 lakh fish seedlings in MMD and 10.50 lakh seedlings in UMD. They have already released 27 lakh seedlings in the water bodies so far.
