An argument between two families over water stagnation in the street led to a murder in Kushaiguda on Monday.

Families of Dasharath, a marble contractor, and Mallesh, labourer, used to frequently quarrel over stagnation of water before their houses at New Viratnagar of Jammigadda in Kushaiguda. They would accuse each other of being responsible for water stagnation in the street.

On Sunday afternoon, Dasharath’s workers picked up an argument with Mallesh’s family over the matter. The labourer’s wife allegedly abused them when Dasharath and his workers attacked the woman and her daughter. On learning this, Mallesh called up his close relatives Venkatesh, Balakrishna and Prabhakar and their associate Narsimha.

The four attacked Dasharath’s brother-in-law Rahgu with sticks around 10 p.m. He was rushed to Gandhi hospital with bleeding wounds and died in the early hours of Monday while undergoing treatment. A case of murder was booked against the attackers.

The victim’s friends, relatives and family members staged a demonstration in front of the Kushaiguda police station urging the police to arrest the culprits immediately.

They demanded that the government announce ex gratia for Raghu’s family members.
