Congress leaders demonstrate

District Congress Committee president N. Rajender Reddy demanded that the Centre order a CBI inquiry into the businesses and assets of BJP president Amit Shah and his son.

The Congress leaders staged a dharna near Congress office on Tuesday raising slogans against the ruling BJP. Addressing the gathering Mr. Rajender Reddy said that the BJP leaders, who accused the Congress leaders of amassing wealth illegally, were indeed engaged in those activities.

There was no transparency in demonetisation and still there were questions unanswered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi or his ministers. The decision was leaked selectively to some persons only to benefit from them later. “How can a person invest just ₹50,000 and earn ₹100 crore within few months?,” Mr. Rajender Reddy sought to know.

The decisions of the Central Government were ruining the economy. The senior leaders like Yashwanth Sinha, Arun Shourie, Subramanya Swamy and others were faulting the decisions of the Prime Minister. The ministers in the Cabinet do not have any powers or work as Mr. Modi and Mr. Amit Shah continue to run the show.

The ministers were reduced to puppets, he said. “It is wrong to assume that the BJP can hoodwink the people for a long time. The propaganda being made by the BJP will not help it any more as people were burdened with its decisions,” the Congress leader said.

Congress party leaders in large numbers took part in the protest demonstration.
