Electri Expo and Renew Expo inaugurated

The Telangana government is likely to entrust the work of installing solar agricultural pump-sets to private players who are showing enthusiasm as it involves huge investment, CMD of Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana (TSSPDCL) G. Raghuma Reddy said.

He put the total cost of installation for all 20 lakh agricultural connections in the State at Rs. 50,000 crore, while speaking to the electronic media along with Energy Advisor to the government A.K. Goel, at the inaugural event of Electri Expo and Renew Expo here on Thursday.

Mr. Reddy listed out various measures to grapple with power shortage, and said self-sufficiency could be achieved once the planned 10,000 MW plant in the State reaches completion.

Mr. Goel urged consumers to install master switches for each room, so that all the electrical appliances in that room could be switched off at one go when not needed. Installation of capacitors at substation and transformer level is one more measure to be adopted by the distribution companies for ensuring energy conservation, he suggested, as also remote monitoring of power consumption and billing at the discom level.

A total of 60 exhibitors participated in the exhibition, and displayed their products which included distribution equipment, cabling and wiring products, installation materials, low voltage switching devices, robotics, lighting, gardening equipment, energy saving devices, generators, batteries, invertors, AC systems, daylight technology, and photovoltaic systems among others.

Solar powered ACs, fans, innovative air conditioning, lighting, solar powered toys, solar streetlights, LED signalling devices, energy saving ceiling fans, rooftop solar panels, solar water pump controller, and earthing equipment were the highlights. The exhibitions will continue till February 28.
