Senior IPS officer who headed the Anti-Corruption Bureau D. Boobathi Babu paid for being outspoken when the government appointed B. Prasada Rao as Director General of ACB on Saturday.
The appointment of a Director General is seen as an action aimed at clipping the wings of Mr. Babu who has expressed unhappiness over the replacement of K. Srinivas Reddy as head of ACB's Special Investigation Team, to crack down on the liquor syndicates.

Several politicians, including Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana and Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, found themselves in a difficult situation in the wake of the SIT probe.
Mr. Babu had fought tooth-and-nail against the government's efforts to transfer Mr. Srinivas Reddy and bring B. Shivdhar Reddy in his place. The A.P. High Court had asked the government to reconsider its move. Mr. Prasada Rao, who was APSRTC Managing Director, has been promoted to the rank of DG. He belongs to the 1979 batch of IPS whereas Mr. Babu is from the 1985 batch. He was among the ten IPS officers transferred on Saturday.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A.K. Khan has been transferred and posted as APSRTC MD while Anurag Sharma, who was additional charge, will now be the new city police chief. Aruna M. Bahuguna has been promoted and posted as Chairman, A.P. State Police Housing Corporation, while S.A. Huda was retained as DG-Law & Order after being promoted.

T. P. Das was appointed as the Director General of Prisons. His place as DG, Special Protection Force, has been taken by Lokendra Sharma. J.V. Ramudu was moved as Additional DG, Greyhounds and Madanlal made MD, Police Housing Corporation.
Damodar Goutam Sawang, who was waiting for a posting on return from deputation to the United Nations, was promoted to the rank of Additional DG and posted to the A.P. Special Police in place of Ms. Aruna Bahuguna.
