Police intensify security checks in city

The city police found security lapses at Lifestyle building, Taj Deccan and Taj Krishna hotel during decoy operations conducted on Saturday.

A decoy team with a pistol and grenade was sent to Lifestyle building in Begumpet while another team went to Taj Deccan with a pistol and dagger and another team went to Taj Krishna hotel with a grenade. Security men at these places could not trace the weapons carried out by the decoy teams.

During the inspection, police found that security guards were not frisking visitors properly. Door-frame metal detectors and surveillance cameras were also not working, a police press release said. It said notices were issued to the managements asking to rectify the lapses.

Meanwhile, police have also checked vehicles at various places in the wake of intelligence alert issued on the eve of New Year event.
