With several historical and spiritual spots, the erstwhile undivided district has immense tourism potential and that can be harnessed if a well designed plan connecting all the spots is implemented, State BC Empower Committee president P. Vinaykumar has said.
Tourism is one area which would bring fast development, he said, while participating in the inauguration of the Nizamabad Zilla Abhivrudhi Samithi here on Sunday. He mentioned the district’s proximity to Basar, on the banks of river Godavari, in Adilabad that is famous as the abode of Goddess Saraswati and said that if developed with necessary amenities, old Nizamabad could attract pilgrims from across the country.
An industrial policy should be so framed that each district has a specific industry. If apparel industry was developed in Warangal, automobile industry needs to be established in this district, he said. Similarly, other industries must be promoted in different districts to prevent labour migration from one area to other as well as to take pressure off of metro cities, he added.

Nizamabad Zilla Abhivrudhi Samithi founder R. Chandrasekhar Reddy said the district, once known as the grain bowl of Telangana, was lagging behind neighbouring districts due to negligence of successive governments. He said the samithi would be strengthened with the support and suggestions of all those wishing for the development of the district.
Presiding over the meeting, writer and senior journalist Ch. Madhu said the platform would be useful to bring the needs of people to the notice of elected representatives and get them resolved.
Former minister S. Santhose Reddy and one of the protagonists of Telangana 1969 agitation, M. Sreedhar Reddy also spoke on the occasion.
