PJTSAU inks MoU for students’ skill upgrade

Agriculture varsity to collaborate with Varsha Bio-Sciences on research projects

Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Varsha Bio-Sciences and Technology India to enhance the skills of post-graduate students in agriculture, integrated pest management, integrated nutrient management and organic farming courses.

The agreement was signed in the presence of university vice-chancellor V. Praveen Rao here by registrar S. Sudheer Kumar and Varsha Bio-Sciences executive A. John Peter.

Apart from helping the two institutions enhance their skills, the agreement would create a platform to conduct collaborative research projects for sustainable agriculture in the areas of common interest.

Further, they have decided to generate Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the area of sustainable agriculture in a mutually beneficial manner.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rao requested Varsha Bio-Sciences to establish a small bio-fertilizer unit on the university campus for the Experiential Learning Program (ELP) of undergraduate students.

Mr. Praveen Rao said the university was planning to start a post-graduate level organic farming programme and directed the Dean of Agriculture to work out possibilities to send students to Varsha Bio-Sciences for internships.
