Organs of brain-dead person donated

Relatives of a 40-year-old woman, who was fatally injured in a road accident on April 28, have donated her organs under the State-run organ transplantation project Jeevandan.

H. Vidya, a resident of Kothapet, was a teacher of physics at Sri Chaitanya Techno Schools, and was first admitted to a local hospital in Kothapet and later shifted to Kamineni Hospitals, L.B. Nagar.

According to Jeevandan officials, the hospital doctors declared the accident victim as brain-dead on April 30. The husband of the deceased, H. Satyanarayana, who was contacted by organ donation co-ordinators, readily agreed to donate her organs. Her kidneys and eyes were donated and distributed to patients based on online registrations and allocation procedure framed.
