Organisers told to follow timings

Around 10,000 policemen will be on duty for the smooth conduct of ‘Ganesh Nimarjanam’ procession scheduled on Wednesday 

The city police have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the ‘Ganesh Nimarjanam’ procession scheduled on Wednesday and has sought public cooperation in this regard.

Speaking at a meeting organised by the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi here on Monday, Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that the around 10,000 police personnel are being deployed on duty for the procession.

He said that around 70 cranes are being made available for lifting the idols. . Mr. Sharma asked the organisers to follow the timings allotted to them for starting the procession. The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee general secretary Bhagwanth Rao said that the GHMC officials had not cooperated with the organisers due to which several civic works were pending on the procession route.

Mr. Rao advised the organisers not to stop the vehicles on highways for hiring them to carry the idols, but instead approach the designated centers set up by the Road Transport Authority (RTA) to hire a vehicle.

BJP leaders Bandaru Dattatreya and Baddam Bal Reddy also spoke.
