Mission Satyanishtha launched in SCR divisions

Fresh momentum to rail development given in the last one year and the ‘bold’ decision taken by Railways Minister Piyush Goyal and Railway Board Chairman Ashwini Lohani to accord top priority to maintenance and safety has made Indian Railways more efficient and trustworthy, claimed SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav on Wednesday.

Therefore, the onus was now on the officers and staff to take advantage of the situation and help in transforming the mammoth organisation to the utmost satisfaction of the customers, both passengers and freight, he said.

Mr. Yadav was delivering the inaugural speech at the launch of ‘Mission Satyanishtha’ — programme on ethics in public governance — launched by the Indian Railway. The day-long event held at Rail Nilayam here was simultaneously video linked with all other divisions like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded. It was attended by all senior railway officers.

Eminent speakers like former internal secretaries like Prabhat Kumar, Mukund Bihari Kaushal, School Education Secretary Anil Swaroop, VP of ICCG Mahesh Kapoor, RB Member-Engg. Mahesh Kumar Gupta and ex-RB member (Traffic) Shanti Narain addressed them.

The General Manager expressed confidence that the Mission would remove impediments as corruption and delay in decision making, among others, giving thrust to progress. Presenting SCR’s own focus towards performance and transformation which has earned it recognition as the best on Indian Railways, Mr. Yadav wanted the effort towards attaining the best to continue with the same zeal.

Mr. Gupta and others stated that ethics in railways will bring more punctuality and safety in train operations, since each employee will work with a sincere purpose, committed to safely carry passengers and not indulge in any unethical practice which can lead to loss of innocent lives due to accidents.
