Ola refuses customer's request for a Hindu driver

April 07, 2015 08:23 pm | Updated 10:43 pm IST - Hyderabad

Ola said they "don't discriminate against our drivers on the basis of their religion."

Ola Cabs refused a Hyderabad resident's request, on Twitter, for a Hindu driver, after the customer said he wanted "a driver of Hindu faith only." The user @SVeerapaNaidu said, since he "was a Hindu", he wanted a driver from the same faith.

The taxi aggregator refused the request on the grounds that they "don't discriminate against our drivers on the basis of their religion." The move has cut across business barriers and given cause for competitors Uber and Easy Cabs to appreciate Ola. Mr. Naidu later replied saying that it is "customer preference" and not discrimination. At the time of writing, he had deleted his original tweet.
