NTPC Ramagundam's 500 MW unit shut down for maintenance

Authorities said modernisation of the power station would be taken up at a cost of Rs 80 lakhs.

The 2600 MW National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)-Ramagundam has shut down its sixth unit of 500 MW for annual overhauling on Thursday.

The sixth unit 500 MW would be closed for about 40 days and the authorities would take up modernisation of the power station at a cost of Rs 80 lakhs.

The effort would increase the unit's efficiency to generate more power in the coming peak season.

Presently, the NTPC is operating units only up to 2100 MW at the power station.
