The State government has decided to take stringent action against those found guilty of supplying drugs as well as the managements of the schools where the incidents are reported.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari termed as painful that drugs reportedly were being supplied to students in schools and other educational institutions. The government was committed to initiate stern measures against those involved in such incidents and it would not hesitate in cancelling recognition given to the institutions where the menace was found. Criminal cases would be registered if need be, to see that such incidents did not recur, he told media persons on Thursday .

The Minister, however, said it was not appropriate to single out the educational institutions in the issue. Parents of the children as well as school and college managements should keep a watch on their wards/students. Asserting that comprehensive inquiry was ordered into the issue, he said the investigating agencies as also the media should observe restraint while the inquiry was on.

“This is a sensitive issue. Scores of parents will suffer mental trauma for no fault of theirs if media doesn’t observe restraint,” he said.
