No luck for cops, girl remains untraceable

A team of Rein Bazaar police, which left for Bihar to trace a 13-year-old missing girl, returned empty-handed. The police team, along with the girl’s family, had gone to Bihar, suspecting Mahesh – a barber from Rein Bazaar and native of Bihar – of taking the girl along with him. The barber reportedly left the city the day the girl went missing. However, it turned out that Mahesh had gone to meet his family.

A team of Rein Bazaar police, which left for Bihar to trace a 13-year-old missing girl, returned empty-handed. The police team, along with the girl’s family, had gone to Bihar, suspecting Mahesh – a barber from Rein Bazaar and native of Bihar – of taking the girl along with him.

The barber reportedly left the city the day the girl went missing. However, it turned out that Mahesh had gone to meet his family. Aided by a team from Bihar police, the team conducted an enquiry, but came back to the city on Saturday without any success.

The Class 6 student had gone missing on November 16. The family has approached the State Human Rights Commission in this regard. Police took into custody four local persons, suspecting their involvement, but they were let off as their role could not be established.

“We questioned Mahesh but could not get any clue. However, we are also pursuing other angles and would soon achieve some breakthrough,” said Additional DCP (south) K. Babu Rao.

Meanwhile, Chanchalguda corporator Amjedullah Khan, accused police of pursuing the case from a single angle.

“A professional gang is involved in kidnapping girls in the city, but the police are pursuing all such cases from the elopement angle,” Mr. Khan alleged.
