Nizamabad recorded highest maximum temperature of 46.1 degree Celsius on Tuesday as temperatures rose appreciably at many places over Telangana.
According to India Meteorological Department recordings at 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nizamabad recorded 46.1 degrees while Ramagundam was sizzling at 45.4 degrees. The IMD weather report said maximum temperatures were above normal at one or two places over the State.
Adilabad sizzled at a torturing 45 degree Celsius maximum day temperature, the highest so far this summer. For the first time during this season, the high temperature corresponded to the maximum day temperatures recorded normally during summer in the district.

This is only the third time in the 19 days of this month that the day temperature has crossed 40 degree Celsius. Day temperatures had stayed below that mark for a majority of days owing to unseasonal rainfall and cloudy conditions.
Adilabad Agriculture Research Station Scientist (Agronomy), D. Mohan Das, says the start of monsoon could be normal even this year but the El Nino effect could see long dry spells during the season.
“Farmers going in for soyabean cultivation should be careful to take up sowing in mid July if it rains,” he suggested.

Blistering heat in Karimnagar
In Karimnagar district, normal life was affected in various parts as temperature crossed 43 degree Celsius. Due to prevalence of blistering heat wave conditions, people were forced to remain indoors.
Usually busy roads and streets wore a deserted look in the afternoon and people did not venture out till late in the evening following the heat waves. The cool drink shops, coconut and vendors, fruit juice vendors and sellers of palm fruit did a roaring business.
The mining activity had also come down drastically at the Singareni Collieries Company Limited due to heat wave at the open cast projects.
