Murder most foul: woman kills daughters to live with paramour

January 31, 2013 01:13 am | Updated 01:13 am IST

A 28-year-old woman killed her two daughters to live with her paramour at Mominpet of Ranga Reddy district, police said on Wednesday.

Sujatha’s plan to implicate her husband Ravi, a contract labourer at a tyre factory, in the chilling twin murder boomeranged after investigators found inconsistencies in her statements and arrested her. Ravi lives at Velcharla near Mominpet with his family and works at Sadashivapet.

“According to Ravi, the woman had an unlawful relationship with a Railway home guard. He claims that the home guard’s wife too knew about it and told him,” Mominpet Sub Inspector K.P. Rajaiah said.

Ravi and Sujatha reportedly used to quarrel on this matter.

On Tuesday, Sujatha left home around 8 p.m. along with the two children. On reaching a well, nearly 500 yards away from the house, she first threw her elder daughter Sravanti (6), into the well. During interrogation, she admitted that the younger daughter Sujatha (4) started running, frightened at seeing her sister being thrown into the well.

“Sujatha ran after the kid, caught her and threw her into the well,” the SI said. An hour later, she turned up at the police station alleging that her husband had murdered her daughters. Refuting her charge, Ravi claimed that he was away at work when the crime was committed.

Grilled by the police, Sujatha admitted to the crime. The bodies were retrieved from the well on Wednesday.
