Nerusu Lakshmi Nivas Rao, who is facing charges over the death of his wife and two children at Michigan in the US five years ago, will be produced in the extradition court in New Delhi on Saturday for the process involving his extradition to the US to face prosecution in the case.

Rao, who hails from Vuyyuru in Krishna district, was arrested by the CID of the State police after he fled the US to return to India. A court at Nampally remanded him to judicial custody on February 21.

The CID was in touch with the Interpol wing of the CBI and the Ministry of External Affairs to expedite Rao’s extradition process in the wake of a red corner notice issued by the US police. The CID also ensured that he did not get bail from the Nampally court.

The MEA designated the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Patiala House in Delhi to inquire into Rao’s extradition in accordance with the treaty between India and the US. Finally, the extradition court issued a warrant for his production on Saturday.
