The Akshaya Patra Foundation, a non-profit organisation headquartered in Bengaluru, has drawn up a plan to construct a modern mega kitchen at a cost of ₹1.60 crore at Laxmidevipalli in Kothagudem to provide wholesome mid-day meal to over 10,000 schoolchildren in the district, initially, from the next academic year.
The non-governmental organisation is presently providing mid-day meals with government assistance to 97,269 children in various government and government-aided schools in the State.
It has readied a plan to launch its services in the predominantly tribal populated Bhadradri-Kothagudem district in the next academic year.

According to sources, a state-of-the-art kitchen will be built at the agricultural market yard in Laxmidevipalli to prepare food under hygienic conditions. Work on construction of kitchen will formally begin after a brief ceremony, slated to be held at Laxmidevipalli on Thursday.
Kothagudem MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao will be the chief guest of the function. Sri Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa , president, Akshaya Patra Foundation, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, will preside over the ceremony.
Nava Bharat Energy India Limited (NBEIL), a subsidiary of Nava Bharat Ventures Limited (NBV), and noted philanthropist and film producer Shobhu Yarlagadda have come forward to contribute equally to bear the entire construction costs of the advanced kitchen, said a press release issued by the Akshaya Patra Foundation.
