In an attempt to draw urban educated youth towards exercising their franchise in the coming Assembly and Parliament elections, a ‘Mobile Voter e-Registration Van’ was flagged off by the Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal here on Monday.

The van, launched from the campus of the Infotech Enterprises at Manikonda, will visit various localities and townships of the city where the youth population is high, and enable people to register themselves for a Voter ID without having to stand in long queues. The concept is designed and implemented by the CEO.

Being taken up on pilot basis in Hyderabad, the initiative will be replicated across the country before the 2014 elections. Infotech, which has large IT employee base, will work in support of ‘Let’s Vote’ campaign, and in coordination with the CEO, in spreading awareness among other corporates, a press release issued on behalf of the company informed.
