‘Missing’ teacher presented before court

Fresh evidence emerging from the ongoing investigation into the reported sexual harassment of a private school teacher and her claims about the note she left are making it more complex.

The 30-year-old teacher, who was traced two days after she had disappeared, leaving a note stating that she wanted to commit suicide due to harassment by Sub-Inspector V. Sudhir Kumar, was presented before a local court on Friday. “We took her to the court since a case of missing person was registered after her husband lodged a complaint,” Madhapur DCP D. Yoganand said.

Handwriting matches

The SI, who had been suspended after finding prima facie evidence that he had made several mobile phone calls to her, was still being grilled to ascertain facts. Stating that there was no question of protecting the SI, the DCP maintained that the teacher made some contradictory claims. She said the note found in her house was not written by her. But the samples of her handwriting collected by police matched with that of the note. The call data record showed that the SI made several calls using the SIM card issued by the Police Department. According to the DCP, the woman too frequently called up the SI. “Records indicate that many telephone calls were made by the teacher and her relative Venkatesh, in whose house she was found by the police,” the DCP said.

The teacher, speaking to media persons, after being produced before the Rajendranagar court, said the note was written by her but the SI had no role in her disappearance. “I had some personal problems,” she said.

Her statement would be recorded by the magistrate on Saturday under section 164 of Criminal Procedure Court. Based on her statement before the court, further investigation would be carried, the police said.
