Dejected over her character being doubted, a 16-year-old minor girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming insecticide at her residence here late Wednesday night.
Kavya, the victim, who was shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad the same night died on Thursday morning, the Aler police said. According to a petition by the victim’s father G. Mallesh, his daughter studying intermediate first year was depressed after one Pavan clicked pictures of Kavya with her male friend and circulated rumours about them.
Following the incident, the village elders too had conducted discussions and warned Pavan for his attitude. But, angered that their son was rebuked in a meeting, parents of Pavan doubted his (Mallesh) daughter’s character and used harsh words, the complainant said. The police after conducting preliminary investigation has booked Sudhakar and Shoba, for abatement of suicide of the minor.
