Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan has given an account of the progress made on various infrastructure projects being implemented for Hyderabad, saying the Rs. 14,000-crore Hyderabad Metro Rail Project “is progressing briskly”.
Speaking at the Republic Day celebrations here on Saturday, he said the Nagole-Mettuguda corridor of the project was expected to be completed by December 2014 well ahead of the schedule.
He said once the works were grounded, the third phase of Krishna water supply project of the city would be completed in 18 months. Efforts were also on to bring at the earliest, the Godavari waters under a different scheme taken up at a cost of Rs. 3,375 crore.

On the other hand, the prestigious eight-lane Outer Ring Road (ORR) project, whose estimated outlay was Rs. 6,700 crore, was nearing completion. It was completed to the extent of 121 km out of a total length of 158 km envisaged and this stretch was thrown open to traffic. The entire ORR, which would make Hyderabad a city of dependable infrastructure, would be completed by December this year.
