Jubliee Hills Police Station officers are investigating the case.

Two persons connected to a Delhi-based educational consultancy promising back-door entry into MBBS courses ‘for a price’ in Telangana State were caught by the Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday. The detained duo Vinod Singh and Pushkar Pande was being grilled by the investigators to identify the persons behind the screen in the alleged fraud. “Owners of the Delhi-based Sai Sri Consultancy, secured mobile numbers of the parents of students, who qualified in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) from Telangana.

Top rankers would automatically get MBBS seats in different colleges. “The consultancy started contacting parents of those candidates who qualified in NEET but didn’t get marks enough to get MBBS seats,” Jubilee Hills Inspector S. Venkat Reddy said.

The complainant in the case, Satyanarayana of Ramanthapur, told the police that he got a phone call from the consultancy assuring that they would help her daughter Sowmya secure MBBS seat. “The tele-caller Vinod Singh (who spoke Telugu) told him that initially ₹2 lakh should be paid and after getting admission a sum of ₹ 25 lakh,” the police said.
