Man held for sexually assaulting minor

Police on Monday nabbed a twenty-five-year-old contract employee of APCPDCL from Hanmakonda for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl.

Accused G. Kranti Kumar was a friend of the victim, who is pursuing accountancy course in a private institute at Dilsukhnagar. Kranti abducted her on August 8 near the institute.

He took her to Nellore and kept her in a rented house and sexually assaulted her.

On Saturday, she managed to escape from the room and came to the city in a bus and met her family.

The Amberpet police registered a case under Nirbhaya Act against Kranti and arrested him.

Meanwhile, the Cyberabad police on Monday nabbed a 40-year-old man for allegedly trying to rape a minor girl in Rajendranagar.

Local residents first caught the accused identified as Bhairang C. of Erraguda and thrashed him before handing him over to the police. Bhairang took the girl to a toddy shop in the locality on Sunday afternoon and made her drink toddy. He later tried to rape her when she was in an inebriated state, the police said.

“A local resident who noticed this caught hold of Bhairang and with the help of others and beat him up and handed him over to us,” Rajendranagar Inspector Ch. Kushalkar said. The arrested person used work as a labourer.
