The police on Friday arrested an assistant working on the film sets on charges of trying to molest a junior woman film artiste and also for misbehaving with another woman in an inebriated condition at Rehamathnagar under Jubilee Hills police station limits on Thursday night.

Twenty-two-year-old Suresh Babu of Filmnagar went to her house at around 10.30 p.m. to ask her to attend a film shooting on Friday.

She, however, refused to attend since she was not paid wages for working the previous day.

He had been promising the junior artiste of getting her roles in new films.

Following a heated argument between them, an irate Babu tried to molest her.

The artiste had managed to escape from his clutches and went to the house of her friend, another junior artiste, in the same locality.

Babu, who followed her, picked up an argument with them and tried to misbehave with them.

When the women raised an alarm, residents of the area came to their rescue, caught Babu and bashed him up before handing him over to the police.

Cases booked

Two cases were booked against Babu under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and under relevant Sections of the Nirbhaya Act in connection with the two incidents, the police said. Further investigations are underway.
