Man held for harassing woman

A money collection agent working with a private finance company was arrested by Balanagar police on Wednesday for allegedly harassing women by sending obscene pictures and videos.

The man, Brahmiah (27) of Ferozguda in Balanagar, was living alone after his wife left him owing to family disputes. Since the last few months, the man took to stealing mobile phones from women at different places in the city.

“After stealing the mobile phones, Brahmiah noted down the contact numbers of women in a diary . He then replaced the SIM card with the one he obtained through fraudulent methods and used it to send obscene pictures and videos and harass the women,” Inspector Balanagar, P Bikhshapathi Rao, said.

Physiotherapist raped

A software engineer allegedly raped a physiotherapist at Rajendranagar after giving her a cool drink laced with sedatives, the police said on Wednesday. The accused, Manoj (35), and the victim were neighbours in Rajendranagar. “In August, Manoj mixed some sedatives in a soft drink and offered it to her. Manoj then raped the woman,” Inspector Rajendranagar, V. Umender, said.

Based on her complaint, the police registered a case and have begun investigating the case.
