Crop loan disbursement by Telangana Grameena Bank was hit further owing to the bank insisting upon farmers producing genuineness certificate with respect to their documents which need to be submitted for the purpose.
Shortage of cash had slowed down the process of crop loan disbursement for the ensuing kharif season. “Yes we are insisting on farmers producing the genuineness certificate under instructions from our head office,” concurred an official of Telagnana Grameena Bank Adilabad branch.
“The certificate is being asked in the wake of a fake document scam unearthed last year in Hyderabad and Nizmabad region of the TGB,” the official added wanting to remain anonymous.

While farmers accuse Tahsildars of refusing to issue the certificate, the latter say they cannot afford to allocate time for such a thing, “The bank is insisting on the certificate even in the case of farmers who regularly repay their loans,” pointed out a Tahsildar.
The Grameena Bank Adilabad region has 72 branches and serves abut 1.2 lakh farmers.
It has a target of disbursing over ₹ 800 crore as crop loans this financial year of which only about ₹ 45 crore has been disbursed so far.
