HRD Minister launches Telugu version of ‘Exam Warriors’

The Telugu version of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book ‘Exam Warriors’, which suggests measures to tackle examination stress, will be stocked in school libraries across the State, said Director of School Education T. Vijay Kumar on Tuesday.

At the book launch by Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Prakash Javadekar, the Director, while appreciating the contents, sought the Centre’s assistance in transforming Government schools to bring them on par with private schools. The book has been published by Emesco Publications with translation done by noted psychologist and magician B.V. Pattabhiram.

Mr. Vijay Kumar sought the Union Minister’s help in introducing computer science education in all Government schools, ensuring educational research institutes prepare a uniform syllabi and provision for low cost computers so that every school has a computer lab, as is the case with the private schools.

He also wanted introduction of English in Government schools as it is the aspiration of every parent these days. “This would provide a level-playing field for Government school students,” he observed.

Gitanjali School Founder Gita Karan also hailed the book, but requested the Union Minister to see to it that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is more responsive towards any queries raised about academic curricula, and send circulars “on time” taking into consideration the academic year schedule.

However, Mr. Javadekar did not respond to the suggestions and confined himself to state that no other Prime Minister anywhere in the world had written a book aimed at school students as was done by Narendra Modi even though they are not even “voters”. He exhorted the gathered children to study for an hour daily as was suggested in the book to beat exam blues. The book is being translated into 13 other languages, including Hindi.

Noted academic Ramaiah complimented the PM for bringing out the book and urged the publishers to distribute it to the students free of cost.

Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, BJP leaders K. Laxman, N. Ramachandra Rao, Ch. Ramachandra Reddy, NVSS Prabhakar and G. Kishan Reddy, who took the initiative to publish the book, participated.
