Minister unveils several projects in the GHMC area

Minister of Municipal Administration K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday went on a whirlwind tour of the twin cities, kickstarting and unveiling several projects in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area.

Accompanied by senior officers of the civic body and local public representatives, he visited 10 sites, unmindful of the gruelling heat conditions. The day started with the inauguration of a community hall in Goutam Nagar in Film Nagar, built at a cost of ₹ 1 crore. Deputy Chief Minister Mahboob Ali and GHMC Mayor B. Rammohan also took part in the programme.

The team of officials led by the Minister then proceeded to Mahboob Chowk, a historically important site which houses a market. He inspected the venue where modernisation and renovation works are proposed to be taken up at a cost of ₹3.5 crore. Beautification works will also be taken up for clock tower at a cost of ₹ 1.5 crore. Cutting the ribbon at the Farooqnagar depot of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation, he said the Char Kamaan would be repaired and beautified, works which were estimated to cost ₹ 2 crore. Responding to a reference made by Hyderabad Member of Parliament, Asaduddin Owaisi, to a ₹ 27-crore proposal for a new bridge in Falaknuma towards the Shamshabad airport, Mr. Rama Rao said it would be sanctioned soon. The Minister also responded to Mr. Owaisi’s suggestion about 2 BHK housing for police personnel on a 12-acre stretch of land nearby, that belonged to the police department and said it would be considered.

Sports complex

Opening a modern sports complex in Moghulpura, Mr. Rao said that old city will be developed on a par with the new city. It has been constructed at a cost of ₹7.17 crore, with 15 facilities for sports enthusiasts.

Responding to local issues brought to his notice, Mr. Rao said a meeting would be convened soon to resolve drinking water supply. The government was setting up the Musi River Grid Corporation on the lines of the Sabarmati Corporation for the development of old city, he said.

A playground in Mailardevpally, air-conditioned toilets in Aramgarh, model market in Rajendranagar and a park in Attapur were also inaugurated.
