Kiran to kick-start spate of works today

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday would be laying a series of foundation stones for different projects, including for a flyover at Tolichowki Junction and for road-widening works from there till Gachibowli.

The other works for which Mr. Reddy is scheduled to lay foundation stones include road-widening from Botanical Gardens to old Mumbai Highway via Masjid Banda village and from Moghal-ka-nala to Puranapul. The tour of the city would culminate with a foundation stone laying for Krishna Phase-III and a public meeting at Saheb Nagar.

The flyover at Toli Chowk Junction being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs.45.90 crore would have a length of 650 m with 38 spans and expected to be completed in 18 months, it would come up with service roads of 7.50 metres on either side.

Once in place, the facility would offer a reprieve from traffic congestions and reduce travel time between Mehdipatnam and Gachibowli.

Apart from the flyover, as part of the proposal to develop the road between Tolichowki to Gachibowli as an Expressway, the improvement of Old Mumbai Highway on this stretch would be taken up at a cost of Rs.43.48 crore that include Rs.5 crore for land acquisition and utility shifting.

243 properties

A total of 243 properties would be affected for the 7.45 km long road works here.

Estimated to cost Rs.35 crore, the 3.8 km Botanical Garden road would be widened with six lane divided road that includes a two metre cycle track.

For the work on this key link between Hitec City and old Mumbai Highway, forest land for about one km has to be acquired and 164 properties would be affected.

Mr. Reddy would also be laying foundation stone on Saturday for widening of road at Nandanavanam from Moghal-ka-nala to Puranapul.

Of the 3.43 km stretch, costing an estimated Rs.29 crore, the proposal is to build a new formation for a length of 1.6 km with a four-lane divided cement road complete with cycle track and footpath.

Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Panabaka Lakshmi and Chief Minister, N.Kiran Kumar Reddy would launch the ‘Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG Consumers’ at Indira Priyadarshini Hall, Public Gardens, at 11 a.m. today.
