Kidnap and murder of girl: three held

The Cyberabad police on Tuesday arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the kidnap and murder of a three-and-half-year old girl Lasya, reported at Deendayalnagar in Sanathnagar last week.

The accused were identified as Narsiah (36) a printing press worker, R. Yadagiri (42) auto driver and N Padma (32). Two other accused, Laxmiah and Yadamma, who are parents of Padma are admitted at Gandhi Hospital.

Padma’s husband deserted her a few years ago and she was staying at her parent’s place that was adjacent to the house where Lasya’s family lives.

“A few weeks ago, the victim’s mother, Mayuri objected to Padma’s closeness to one Yadagiri frequenting their house and warned against indulging in such immoral activities in the colony,” Inspector Sanathnagar, K Sudhershan Reddy said.

Following the issue, Padma’s parents felt insulted and hatched a plan to take revenge for it. On October 14, Padma’s mother Yadamma kidnapped the girl when she came out from her house. “Yadamma took the girl into her house where the family members strangulated her to death. They intended to dispose of the body at some isolated place the next day,” the Inspector added.

However, the family could not shift the body to some other place as they were constantly under watch. On Friday night, the police raided Padma’s house after local’s complained of a foul smell emanating from the place.

On inspection, they found the body of Lasya kept in a plastic bag.

The police arrested the three accused persons.

Chain-snatching

A woman sustained injuries after falling from a two wheeler when two bike borne miscreants tried to grab her gold chain late on Monday night.

Haritha, a housewife from Chikkadpally was travelling along with her husband Venkat on a two wheeler around midnight when two offenders riding a motorcycle attempted to snatch her gold chain.

“As the offenders tried to forcefully grab the chain, the victim fell off the two-wheeler and sustained a injury on her hand,” the Sultan Bazaar police said
