The Government of Telangana sanctioned development works with an estimated cost of Rs.30.3 crore on Tuesday for construction of new college, school and hostel buildings in Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s constituency Gajwel in Medak district, though the inclement weather prevented him from visiting the segment.

According to three GOs issued to this effect, permission was granted for shifting of the Government Degree College (Men) from the present premises to GMR Polytechnic at Sangapur. The present premises of GDC would be handed over to the Medical & Health Department for setting up a hospital.

The government sanctioned Rs.5.95 crore each for construction of new buildings for GDC (men) and GDC (women) with the facility to convert the latter into a residential degree college. Hostel buildings for the residential GDC (women) would be constructed with Rs.2.40 crores at KGBV premises. Additional staff required for residential GDC would also be sanctioned separately.
