Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was said to have briefed Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on the steps taken by the State government for maintenance of law and order in the wake of the shootout by Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) operatives in Nalgonda district.
Motor vehicles tax
The meeting between Mr. Rao and Mr. Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan also discussed the controversy generated over imposition of motor vehicles tax on transport vehicles coming into Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.

Later, Mr. Rao met Ministers Naini Narasimha Reddy, K.T. Rama Rao, T. Srinivas Yadav and P. Mahender Reddy and Tourism Development Corporation chairman P. Ramulu at his camp office to discuss steps for the development of tourism in Telangana.
Separately, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu called on the injured police officers at Kamineni Hospital at L.B. Nagar where he told media persons that he had asked Intelligence Bureau chief and Union Home Secretary to inquire into the expansion of activities of SIMI in Telangana.
