Personnel of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught red-handed deputy tehsildar of Kazipet K Anil Kumar and arrested him while accepting a bribe here on Saturday.
ACB DSP T Sudharshan Goud said the officer demanded and accepted ₹6 lakh to process documents for ownership of three acres and three kuntas of land on survey number 161 of Shayampet in Kazipet mandal in favour of Pulluri Sammaiah. Following a complaint from Mr Sammaiah, ACB personnel laid a trap at the house of Mr Anil Kumar and caught him red-handed.
Inspector S V Raghavender Rao said Mr Sammaiah had been holding GPA of the land belonging to one K Sammaiah and seven others since 2002. However, another person called Veeraiah claimed the land and managed to get “wrong passbooks” in his name. Mr Pulluri Sammaiah approached the joint collector’s office in 2005 and appealed for revision of the records. The joint collector’s court asked the local mandal officer to inquire into the matter. After inquiry, the joint collector’s court gave an order in favour of Mr Pulluri Sammaiah.

When Mr Pulluri Sammaiah asked for the revised order and update of revenue records, the deputy tehsildar demanded ₹6 lakh to process the same.
“The said officer had taken two cheques for ₹3 lakh each before processing the records. Today, he wanted Pulluri Sammaiah to come with the cash. When we went to his house at Teachers colony, we found cash and the cheques, and he was arrested,” Mr Raghavender Rao said.
The arrested officer was taken to Hyderabad to be produced before the city civil courts.
