General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Prakash Karat had a 90-minute meeting with Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu in the latter's residence here on Monday and discussed various political developments that have taken place at national level in the recent past.

Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, Mr. Karat stated that they had exchanged views on the political developments in the country, particularly the political vendetta unleashed against CPI (M) by the ruling Trinamool Congress party in West Bengal after the recent elections. The CPI (M) activists were subjected to violence, including killing, and they were also being forced out of their homes and offices, he alleged.

The party was raising the issue at national level and he had sought the support of Mr. Naidu in that endeavour. Asked whether the CPI (M) would support TDP in any elections in future in Andhra Pradesh and whether they had discussed about forming the third alternative at the national level, Mr. Karat said he was not there to discuss about those issues.
