Jilted techie immolates self

A techie is battling for life after immolating himself at the house of his classmate in Nizampet of Kukatpally on Thursday. The woman reportedly rejected his marriage proposal.

Alok Jaiswal (25) suffered nearly 60 per cent burns and was admitted to Gandhi Hospital. An employee of Cognizant, Jaiswal came to the house of his classmate at Bandari Layout around 6 p.m.

He picked up an argument with the woman and her father Chakr Bahadur, a retired head constable of APSP, for turning down his marriage proposal.

“For the last one week, he has been reportedly persuading her to marry him,” KPHB Colony Inspector G. Baswa Reddy said.

Jaiswal also brought a bottle of petrol and a lighter along with him.

Angered by their refusal, Jaiswal attacked the woman’s parents Later, he doused petrol on himselfand set himself ablaze.

History-sheeter held

Mohd. Fayyaz Ali, history-sheeter of Reinbazar, who was accused of being involved in several criminal cases, was arrested by the Commissioner’s Task Force (South) on Thursday. A dagger was seized from him.

Ganja seized

The Task Force (Central) team seized 23.5 kg of ganja after arresting three persons namely, S. Hanumantha Rao, S. Chiranjeevi and J. Ganesh.
