Intel to set up tech centre in Hyderabad

Expected to create 1,500 jobs in its initial stages

Tech major Intel would soon set up a technology development centre in Hyderabad, a facility expected to create 1,500 job opportunities in its initial stages.

A press release from the IT Minister in the caretaker government K.T. Rama Rao’s office, announced this after a delegation led by Nivruti Rai, country head, Intel India, met him at his camp office here on Friday.

Stating that Telangana continued to attract investments, the release said during the meeting, the State’s industrial policy and infrastructure in Hyderabad that encouraged the tech giant to choose the city for its tech centre were discussed.

“We are happy that Intel decided to start a tech centre in Hyderabad,” Mr. Rao said.

Boost to IT sector

The Intel India centre in the city would provide a major boost to the IT sector in the region. The State government and Intel delegation had held several meetings that culminated into setting up of the centre in the city, the release said, without mentioning the timeline within which it would be established.

The delegation invited the Minister to attend Intel India’s 20th anniversary scheduled on November 15 in Bengaluru.
