Image makeover for CM’s security officers

It was a special day for the State and equally so for the security officers of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Clad in impeccable dark blazers and wearing goggles, the six-member security officers team of the Chief Minister made a difference on the State Formation Day on Friday. This was not the first time the Chief Minister’s security officers turned up in blazers.

For past three years, the higher-ups ensured the security officers, who normally wear safari dresses, wear blazers during ceremonial and special events. But on Friday, the entire first layer of security officers were clad in new blazers and wore dark goggles.

In fact, some raised doubt if the security cover of the Chief Minister was completely changed. “No, but surely our men with blazers and goggles definitely created an impression of sort,” a senior officer said.

But the change was not confined to mere attire. Already, the second layer security comprising Telangana Special Police personnel was replaced with the elite commando force of Greyhounds.

The gun-toting Greyhounds commandos cover the Chief Minister all the time. “That is not all. All security officers, hereafter, would have to undergo a new training module akin to the one imparted to the National Security Guards,” the officer said. More vigorous physical training and usage of latest technical gadgets for foolproof security is on the cards.
