ICFAI students graduate in grand ceremony

1,605 students awarded degrees

The eighth convocation ceremony of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (deemed-to-be university) Hyderabad, was held at Shilpakala Vedika on Thursday with a total 1,605 students getting their degrees.

During the event, Chancellor of the university C. Rangarajan said agricultural, industrial and scientific growth of the country is dependent on well-trained professionals. “We need not belittle what we have achieved. There is an inescapable need to strengthen higher education in terms of quality and effectiveness,” Mr. Rangarajan said. Delivering the convocation address, managing director of Tube Investments of India Limited Vellayan Subbiah highlighted the importance of self-reflection and introspection in life.

Vice-Chancellor J. Mahender Reddy presented a report on the progress made by the deemed-to-be university during the year 2017-18. Mr. Reddy said, during the year the deemed to be university hosted six international conferences and two national conferences. In all, 420 papers were presented in all the conferences of which 114 were presented by faculty members and doctoral students. They also presented 226 papers at conferences within the country and six papers were presented at international conferences held in the US, France and Thailand.

The graduating students included 13 PhDs and 1,135 MBAs. Seven gold medals and five silver medals were awarded to students for academic excellenceand all round excellence in all the streams.
