Hyderabad-based start-up makes strides into electrical market

October 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Whether it is a small bulb or a transformer, a city-based start-up is making rapid strides in not only delivering the choicest electrical items at people’s doorstep but also leading the way in making the sector organised.

Started by young entrepreneurs from the city, Ajay Kumar and Y. Krishna, electrikals.com has more than 1.2 lakh electric items on sale with competitive pricing. What started as an information-providing website has now been converted to an e-commerce platform looking at the demand for a one-stop shop for electrical goods .

“After my past experience in the electrical field, I wanted to change the existing distribution system using technology,” said co-founder Ajay Kumar. “We have done many firsts. We have directly tied up with over 140 manufacturers doing away with middlemen. We happen to be the only company that can deliver just about any electrical item across South-East Asia without a minimum purchase condition. Thanks to our user-friendly portal, customers can choose any product as the pictures are accompanied by exhaustive information in its specification.” According to co-founder Y. Krishna, the site witnessed close to 10 transactions per day. “We will break even very soon and are planning to raise funding. We plan to set up our own godowns as well as have offices across the country in the near future,” said Krishna. An app is also being developed and will be out soon, said Krishna.
