Hyderabad No.1 in quality of living

Global list has Hyderabad at rank 138, Pune at 148, Mumbai at 152 and New Delhi at 154

The city has been ranked above all other Indian cities on quality of living, a survey by consulting firm Mercer has revealed.

Titled Quality of Life 2015 , the survey also said Indian cities made little progress compared to other top cities in the world.

“Over time, Hyderabad has emerged as a city of choice due to factors such as improved options for international schools and choice of English-speaking schools. Additionally, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad offers a good range of international flights, which improves its ranking on account of public services,” the survey said.

While Hyderabad was ranked 138, Pune figures at 148, while Mumbai and New Delhi are ranked 152 and 154 respectively.

“WHO recently published data on pollution around the world, suggesting that 13 of the world’s 20 most-polluted cities are all in India. This has impacted the overall scores of Indian cities in our survey,” said India Practice Leader (Global Mobility), Mercer, Ruchika Pal.

“While other factors have remained constant, considerable population rise in Mumbai and New Delhi has increased existing problems, including access to clean water, air pollution, and traffic congestion,” she added.
