June 07, 2013 01:39 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:08 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A medical student, Peeress Jollie, who allegedly kidnapped an intermediate second-year student at the Sree Chaitanya college here, was arrested by Miyapur police on Thursday.

The teenager, who hails from Punjab, had arrived at Secunderabad railway station by Rajasthan Express on Wednesday. She was received by family friend Ajay Kumar, who accompanied her to her college campus in Miyapur in an autorickshaw.

At Miyapur, the girl got off the vehicle to purchase a mobile recharge coupon, when the accused abducted her and sped away in his vehicle.

“Kumar and the teenager’s distant relatives here approached the Miyapur police late on Wednesday night,” Kukatpally ACP M. Malla Reddy said.

As the police initially suspected autorickshaw drivers, they called in all three-wheeler drivers in the area and interrogated them all through the night. Police later analysed the girl’s phone-call details and tracked her to a building, where the medico had confined her.

Peeress, who also hails from Punjab, had reportedly travelled to Secunderabad in the same train. He had followed her from the railway station and abducted her at Miyapur.
