Hyderabad likely permanent venue for children’s film fete

Government committed to developing film industry in State, says Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav

Minister for Commercial Taxes and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Friday said that the government was planning to make Hyderabad the permanent venue for conducting International Children’s Film Festival.

Arrangements for the event to be held from November 14 to 20 were being made on a large scale with I-Max here as the main venue, the Minister told newspersons after releasing audio compact disc and launching the website of the 19{+t}{+h}International Children’s Film Festival. The event would also be held in all the district headquarters, he said.

Stating that Hyderabad was one of the best places for development of film industry, the Minister said the government would take along all stakeholders in its efforts to expand the industry further. Good locations for shootings across Telangana would be an added advantage in addition to good weather conditions throughout the year, he said.

About 450 child delegates and 75 other delegates involved in making of films for children from across the country and overseas were expected to participate in the event, Mr. Yadav said, explaining that film shows and workshops would also be held in district headquarters for children and others. He explained that 14 cinema halls, including three screens in I-Max, were selected for screening of films in Hyderabad.

Inaugural and valedictory functions of the film festival would be held at Shilpa Kala Vedika at Shilparamam Thoranam, while workshops would be held at Bal Bhavan in Public Gardens. A total of 1,204 entries have been received for the film festival this year. Chairman of Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) Mukhesh Khanna would be stationed in Hyderabad throughout the festival.
